Biography: Jeffrey C. Davis, M.D. has practiced in Birmingham since 1995. He has a broad area of interest and expertise that includes joint replacement (hip, knee and shoulder), arthroscopy (knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle and wrist), sports medicine, trauma and reconstruction, foot and ankle problems, hand surgery and workers’ compensation injuries. He serves as the lead investigator and has published articles for several clinical drug trials regarding new and existing medications for orthopedic patients. He has also researched and presented information regarding anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Dr. Davis is a leading physician for the care of workers’ compensation patients.
Dr. Davis received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech with high honors in 1982. After earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1986, he completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the Campbell Clinic/ University of Tennessee. Dr. Davis served in the United States Air Force Medical Corps as an orthopedic surgeon attaining the rank of Major. He performs total hip and knee surgery through a limited incision approach using the latest prosthetic technology. Dr. Davis continues to explore ways to help patients with arthritis utilizing hip resurfacing, arthroplasty, and partial knee arthroplasty when appropriate. His arthroscopic skills have eliminated many open procedures, particularly of the knee and shoulder.
Dr. Davis has served as team physician for Spain Park High School. He has also been involved as a consultant for the Arthritis Foundation in designing workplace improvements for employees.
Dr. Davis and his wife, Sheri, have two sons and three daughters. Outside of work, Dr. Davis enjoys spending time with his family, being active in church, snow skiing, golf and physical fitness.
